Which resort is closest to Plovdiv

For people from Plovdiv the answer is simple: Pamporovo. It is in the Rhodopes, south of the city, and with about 85 km it is the nearest big ski resort. Many Plovdiv families go there for a weekend or even for one day on the slopes.

Borovets is in the Rila mountains, about 125 km from Plovdiv, and Bansko is under Pirin, about 150 km away. Bansko is the biggest of the three and the most popular with foreign skiers; Borovets is the oldest Bulgarian resort and is good for groups of friends. Whichever you choose, the price per car stays the same whether one person travels or the whole car is full.

How the trip goes

Plovdiv to Pamporovo

The car leaves Plovdiv to the south, passes Asenovgrad and goes up the valley of the Chepelarska river, past Bachkovo Monastery and through Chepelare. The last part is a mountain road with many bends. Our price list gives about 1 h 45 min. If someone in the car gets travel sick, tell the driver and he will take the bends calmly.

Plovdiv to Bansko

The usual way is west to Pazardzhik, then into the mountains through Velingrad and over the pass at Yundola, down to Razlog and on to Bansko. It is about 150 km and about 2 h 30 min. The pass is the part where snow matters most, so on days with heavy snow allow some extra time.

Plovdiv to Borovets

Most of the way to Borovets is on the Trakia motorway to the west, and the last part is a mountain road up into Rila. It is about 125 km and about 2 hours.

On the day

Before the trip you get the driver's phone number. The driver comes to your address in Plovdiv and waits up to 15 minutes. Skis, boards and boot bags go in the boot. At the resort the car stops at your hotel, not at a bus station or the edge of the town. You pay the driver at the end of the trip.

From Plovdiv Airport to the slopes

Plovdiv Airport (Krumovo) is about 20 km from the centre of Plovdiv. If you land there, the driver meets you in the arrivals hall and you go straight to the resort, without a stop in the city. Send us the flight number when you book. We follow the flight online, and if it lands late, the driver waits at the airport without a time limit and at no extra cost. This free waiting is only for delayed flights at the airport.

From Plovdiv Airport you pay the same as from Plovdiv city: €80 to Pamporovo, €90 to Borovets and €120 to Bansko for a sedan, with the minivan and minibus prices from the table above. Which car for skiers

We have about 200 sedans, 50 minivans, 100 minibuses and 20 S and E class cars. A sedan is fine for up to 4 people with normal suitcases. Ski bags are long and boot bags are big, so for four skiers with equipment a minivan is the better choice. The minibus takes up to 8 people, and for bigger groups or a whole ski school we arrange a bus, price on request.

Travelling with children? An infant carrier, a child seat and a booster are free. Tell us how many children travel and we put the right seats in the car.

A day on the slopes from Plovdiv

Pamporovo is close enough for a day trip: leave Plovdiv in the morning, ski all day, come back in the evening. If you want the car to bring you back the same day, tell us the times when you book and we give you a price for the round trip.

Do I pay in advance for a winter booking?

No. You book now with a fixed price and pay the driver after the trip. There is no prepayment. Child seats, boosters and infant carriers are free of charge.
