Skopje Airport transfers to and from Bulgaria

Skopje International Airport is a handy gateway to Europe for south-west Bulgaria, and for visitors it is a good place to start a Balkan holiday. TAXI-BG picks you up at the terminal in Skopje and drives you to Sofia, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Bansko or wherever you need to go, with a private driver in a clean, air-conditioned car. Cheap flights from Skopje

Budget airlines fly from Skopje to many cities across Europe. You will often find a cheaper fare there, or a direct flight to somewhere you would have to change planes for from Sofia. That is why Skopje is a popular choice for Bulgarians from Sofia, Kyustendil, Pernik and Blagoevgrad, for students abroad, for people working in Western Europe and for families coming home for the holidays.

The airport works well for visitors too. Some land in Skopje, see the city and then carry on to Bulgaria: to the mountains, to Plovdiv or to the coast. With a fixed price per car, your group pays one amount however many of you are on board, as long as you fit in the car.

The route to Skopje and distances

The most direct road from Sofia goes through Pernik and Kyustendil, crosses the border at Gyueshevo – Deve Bair, and then runs down through Kriva Palanka and Kumanovo. There are other crossings from south-west Bulgaria, and the driver takes the road that suits your address best. Approximate distances to Skopje:

• Sofia – Skopje: about 250 km, around 4 h.
• Velingrad – Skopje: about 310 km, around 4 h 45 min.
• Plovdiv – Skopje: about 400 km, around 5 h 15 min.
• Stara Zagora – Skopje: about 440 km, around 6 h.
• Burgas – Skopje: about 640 km, around 7 h 15 min.
• Varna – Skopje: about 700 km, around 9 h.

Border checks and documents

North Macedonia is not a member of the European Union, so there are passport and customs checks at the border in both directions. How long they take depends on the season, the day of the week and the time. When you are travelling to catch a flight, we suggest a departure time with plenty of margin.

Every passenger, children included, needs a valid travel document: an ID card or a passport, depending on nationality. Check your documents' expiry dates before the trip. If you are not an EU citizen, find out in advance whether you need a visa for North Macedonia.

How to book a Skopje transfer

1. Write to us for a fixed price. Skopje is not listed in the table. Send us your address, the date, your flight number or time and the number of passengers on WhatsApp, Viber or Telegram.
2. Fill in the booking. Use a booking from an airport when landing in Skopje, or a booking from an address for the trip to the airport. You can also call us.
3. Get your confirmation of the time, the meeting point and the car.
4. Pay after the ride, directly to the driver.

If your flight is late

We track every flight in real time. If yours is delayed, the driver waits with no time limit and at no extra cost. No need to message us from the plane, as we can see the new landing time. When you are flying out of Skopje, tell us your flight time and we will work out when to set off, so you have enough time for the border and check-in.

Skiing, the seaside and the holidays

In winter, visitors landing in Skopje carry on to Bansko and Borovets with skis and snowboards in the boot. In summer they head for Burgas, Varna and the Black Sea resorts. Around Christmas, Easter and the summer break, many Bulgarians living abroad travel home, so book early at those times.

If you want to stop on the way, say in Kyustendil, or spend the day with a car and driver, you can hire a car with a driver for a few hours or a full day.

Price and payment

Write to us and you will get a fixed price for the whole car, which does not change because of traffic, the border or a delayed flight. There is no prepayment: you pay the driver after the ride. You book directly with the carrier, with no booking platform in between.
