Travel documents and the border crossing
The road from Bucharest Airport to Bulgaria crosses the Danube at a border checkpoint. Most often that is the Danube Bridge between Giurgiu and Ruse. For destinations further west, the driver may also use Danube Bridge 2 between Calafat and Vidin.
Every passenger, children included, must carry a valid travel document: an ID card or passport, depending on nationality. Please check your documents before you fly. Time at the border depends on the day and the season, so for an early flight from Bucharest we recommend a departure time with some margin.
