Plovdiv to Bansko in the ski season
Of the three big ski resorts, Bansko is the furthest from Plovdiv, yet the route is simple. The car heads west to Pazardzhik, carries on to Velingrad and then climbs to the Yundola pass. From there it drops into the Razlog valley, passes through Razlog and reaches Bansko a few minutes later. Our price list gives about 150 km and about 2 h 30 min.
Yundola is the highest point of the trip and the first place where snow settles. After heavy snowfall the drive takes longer, so when you head back for a flight we suggest a pick-up time with a margin.
Snow chains and winter tyres
From 15 November to 1 March Bulgarian law requires tyres for winter conditions. If chains are required on the road, the driver tells you in advance how long the trip will take, so you can choose your departure time calmly.
Which car for your ski kit
The €120 sedan suits two or three people with skis and suitcases. If there are four of you and everyone has skis or a board, take the minivan for €160: the boot is longer and nobody rides with a ski bag on their knees. A group of up to 8 travels in the minibus for €180. Let us know the number of ski pairs, boards and boot bags and we will match the car to them. There is no charge for baby seats, child seats or boosters.
