Plovdiv to Pamporovo in winter: the road and the trip
Pamporovo is the closest big ski resort to Plovdiv. The car heads south on road II-86 to Asenovgrad, then climbs the gorge of the Chepelarska river past Bachkovo Monastery and Narechenski Bani, goes through Chepelare and covers the last stretch up to the resort. In our price list that is about 85 km and about 1 h 45 min.
After Asenovgrad the road is narrow and has many bends, so the drive is slower than the distance suggests. On a day of heavy snow it can take longer. If you have a train or a flight to catch on the way back, we will suggest an earlier pick-up time at your hotel.
Winter tyres and snow chains
Bulgarian law requires tyres for winter conditions, with at least 4 mm of tread, from 15 November to 1 March. Our cars run on winter tyres for the whole season. If chains are required on the road, the driver tells you in advance how long the trip will take. If the road is closed because of snow, we call you straight away and agree a new time.
Skis, snowboards and boot bags
Ski and board bags are long and boot bags take a lot of room. A sedan fits two or three skiers with luggage comfortably. For four people with full kit choose a minivan (€100), and for a group of up to 8 a minibus (€120). Tell us when you book how many pairs of skis, boards and suitcases you have, and we will pick the right car. Baby seats, child seats and boosters are free.
Where we pick you up
From an address in Plovdiv. Before the trip you get the driver's phone number. He comes to your door, waits up to 15 minutes and loads the luggage. In Pamporovo the car stops in front of your hotel.
From Plovdiv Airport (PDV). The airport is about 20 km from the city and the price to Pamporovo is the same as from Plovdiv. Give us your flight number. We follow the flight, and if it lands late the driver waits at the airport, even for a late evening arrival. You drive straight to the mountains without going through the city.
The price is for the whole car, not per seat
€80 is the price for the whole sedan, whether you travel alone or with three friends. There is no extra charge for luggage, skis or a night-time trip. No prepayment: you pay the driver at the end of the ride.
