Nessebar is a unique exampleof centuries - old human activities in the sphere of the culture. The Medieval religious architecture of Nessebar is modified by traditional Byzantine forms. Nessebar has served for thousands of years the spirit of Christian culture. The Old Town of Nessebar is an example of an architectural group with preserved Bulgarian Renaissance structure which match perfectly with the rocky peninsular. Nessebar has significant historic periods, with elements from second century BC, classical antiquity and the Middle Ages. In Nessebar could be found remains of the Roman and Medieval walls, Bulgarian and Byzantine churches and old houses from 18th and 19th centuries.

     Nessebar is best known for the Old Town on the peninsula. The 18th century was a great time and many of the people could've afford to build new houses. The first floor was made of stone and the second floor was wooden, where the family lived. On the first floor they used to store wheat and wine. Nessebar has Archaeological museum, which hall can give you an idea about the main attractions in the Old Town.

     The Ethnographic museum is situated in a more than 150 year old house in the Old Town of Nessebar. In this museum, people could learn about the life of the people as it used to be. Old and New Nessebar are connected by bridge, where is also located The Windmill, which is one of the symbols of Nessebar. The city has been fortified since Roman Times. There are still remains of that time, that could be visited. Roads in Nessebar are cobbled and narrow.

     The ancient churches of Nessebar are the main reason for the inclusion of Nessebar into UNESCO World Heritage List. They date back to different centuries, from Church to The Holy Mother Eleusa (6th Century) to Church of Christ Pantocrator (14th Century). The most - well preserved is the Saint Sophia Church. The churches have stunning beautiful facades and interiors and are among the best preserved in The Balkan Peninsula. The oldest church in Nessebar is Saint John The Baptist (10th century). 

     The Old Town of Nessebar is an attractive place for romantic walks along the narrow cobbled streets, among the small shops. The town with its splendid antique atmosphere gives an opportunity for relaxation. But if you want more crowded place, you can go to many of the pubs and bars in Ravda, which is a summer destination for young and wild Bulgarians, mostly full of students, cheap bars and discos. In addition you can go to Sunny Beach - where are the best summer parties in Bulgaria and it is only a few kilometers away from Nessebar. Also, too close is the town of Saint Vlas, where could be found one of Bulgaria's blue flag beaches and the yacht port of Marina Dinevi. It is a place with fancy boats and expensive resorts.

   Before you hit the clubs, don't forget to spend a minute and watch the sunset in Nessebar. The best spot is The Windmill at the entrance of the Old Town.
