Night of Museums and Galleries in Plovdiv 2019

The Night of Museums and Galleries in Plovdiv, known as “Plovdiv night” or simply “The Night”, featured more than 140 events in 75 different locations. Every year there are more than 60 000 visitors.

The international day of museums has been celebrated every year on 18 May since 1978 to present day. The International Council of Museums made this decision in order to remind people of the importance of museums to societal development and to attract the young people’s attention to culture and art.

The idea for the Night of Museums and Galleries came from France in 2005. In Bulgaria it was launched for the first time 13 years ago by the “Sariev” gallery. It consisted of 20 events and more than 3 000 people visited the activities. The event is extremely interesting and attracts many visitors with its variety of programs, demonstrations, theatre, ballet, and concert performances. “Thee Night” has become one of the most popular events in Plovdiv – it is highly anticipated and visitd by people from all over the country. It makes Plovdiv a modern city with great cultural potential.

In 2019, The night of Museums and Galleries Plovdiv is going to last three days. It is going to take place in September 2019 when Plovdiv will be the European capital of culture. The dates for “The Night” are going to be 13, 14, 15 September.
