Plovdiv – Kardzhali: the road

From Plovdiv the car heads south to Asenovgrad and then east over the Eastern Rhodopes. It is a regular road with bends and climbs, not a motorway, so 95 km take about 1 h 45 min. The views over the hills and the reservoirs are worth it, but if you get car sick, tell the driver and he will drive more gently.

In winter there can be snow and ice on the higher parts, so when the forecast is bad we plan more time for the trip. If you have a train, a bus or a flight to catch in Plovdiv, tell us and we will set the pick-up time with a reserve.
