Primorsko, Bulgaria

     Primorsko is located on the Black Sea coast in small peninsula. It is famous for its graceful arcing ten-kilometer sandy beach. Primorsko has the prettiest and the longest beach. Primorsko is situated fifty kilometers from Burgas. The rivers Ropotamo and Dyavolska river run close to the town. The Ropotamo nature reserve and Snake island reserve are also nearby. Around Primorsko are found ten mound necropolises and twelve dolmens.

      Ropotamo natural reserve is located near Primorsko. There are many interesting and unique natural sites on the theritory. The reserve is a part of the larger protected area Primorsko Place, Ropotamo. It is former at the confluence of the river in the Black Sea, where the water enters back to the river. Among other interesting sites and places are the sand dunes and beaches, dense forests, huge trees, lower stems and whose roots are in the river, the swamp of Arkutino, where water lilies, water yellow roses and others could be seen.

     The Rock sancutary Begliktash is located in reserve Ropotamo, about seven kilometers from Primorsko. Begliktash was a sacred place and there were performed sacred rituals from Before Christ. Rock elements has natural origin, but some of them were further grouped into different ensembles depends on the performed rites. Some of the stones have carved ritual signs. Begliktash has strategic position - there is a beautiful panoramic view to the sea and around.It was discovered in 2003. Begliktash is one of the greatest discoveries of the Thracian civilization at the Southern Black Sea coast and Strandzha.

     Farmakida fortress is one of the last discovered strongholds in Bulgaria. Farmakida is considered as an ancient predecessor of Primorsko. The Castle was naturally protected and inaccessible for attackers, because of the steep cliffs surrounding it on three sides. The only access was via narrow path and there was erected a powerful tower to guard the fortress.

    Primorsko is a heaven for youth and working Bulgarians. Under communism, Primorsko was the site of the Georgi Dimitrov International Youth Resort Center, which annually attracted thousands of communist youth from around the world. North of Primorsko is located one of the best preserved dune complexes at the Black sea shore, in the area between seashore and Stamoplu lagoon. Some dunes reach up to 19 meters of heigh and are an exceptional view for visitors. This is the natural landmark Sand dunes - Perla.
